Disposition: ALL 10 CHARGES DISMISSED ON 11/01/17. This was a case where two brothers were charged with assault and related charges. The “victims” were cooperating with the prosecution. Nevertheless, through video surveillance that I subpoenaed and obtained, I was able to show that my clients were the victims, not the perpetrators. Initially, the prosecutor and his supervisor would only dismiss against one of the brothers, for reasons I did not believe were justified. After making my case to the Deputy Bureau Chief, all charges were dismissed against the other brother too. Big victory. No trial necessary. Very happy clients.

Disposition: Client, a New Yorker, was indicted pre-arrest and was facing a 10 year Mandatory Minimum sentence on the top charge in Federal Court in Michigan. After more than 18 months of chipping away at the prosecutor, the government agreed to only recommend a sentence of 18 months at sentencing to the Honorable Judge Nancy Edmunds. (Sentencing guidelines had client at a 36 to 47 months range). At sentencing, was able to persuade Judge Edmunds that no prison was appropriate and she ultimately agreed, sentencing the client to a term of two years of probation and community service, no jail. From a 10 year mandatory minimum to two years probation = very good result. (Even the probation officer couldn’t believe it “I thought for sure he was going to jail. Another defendant in the same position just got 3 years from Judge Edmunds” she said.) On 09/15/16.
